"This year, we want as many schools as possible to be equipped with solar panels," Thwaites told Parliament, while highlighting the case of Holy Trinity, whose solar system is a gift from private-sector group New Leaf Power. He said the PetroCaribe Fund is willing to assist schools with the installation of renewable-energy solutions such as solar panels.

perfect for schools and offices that only operate in daylight hours...not so much for enterprises that operate in the night...

Dont they have solar technology that can store energy to operate overnight and sell it back to the electric grid.

In the world of large-scale alternative energy, wind reigns supreme, mostly because it's cheaper. But a recent development in solar-energy production could make solar power a far more viable option.
In most cases, the sun's energy is converted into electricity in one of two ways: using photovoltaic cells, which turn the sun's light into electricity using a semiconductor material that absorbs photons and releases electrons; or using solar-thermal turbines, which use the sun's heat to generate steam, which then spins a turbine to produce electricity. It's the solar-thermal power plant that is poised for a big change.

hmmm...not too sure about this one...cars park in parking lots...these things don't look like they will be exposed to enough sun...

I doubt they would work well in snowy climes.
