    I have a question about Jamaican politics. What exactly is the role of a party "caretaker" in a certain district?

    I know the MP is the elected representative who represents his / her district in the Jamaican Parliament.

    I ask this because of the gang leader in Mo Bay, recently shot by police.
    The gang leader's car was registered to a PNP "caretaker".

    Caretaker is the person running for t he seat. He maybe running against the sitting MP or chosen by a part to represent the seat in the next election.
