OUR releases EWI licence

The Office of Utilities Regulation, OUR, has released the amended and the original licence issued to Energy World International, EWI, for the construction of the 381 megawatt power plant.
The plant will now to be built in St. Andrew
and not in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.
The original licence was signed by Energy Minister, Phillip Paulwell on April 4, but 10 days later it was amended.
The amended licence was signed on April 14, by Mr Paulwell.
In the amended version, under the section referred to as Grant of Licence, several obligations have been omitted.
These include the provision of a performance bond within 10 days of the date of the licence; securing the necessary funding for the completion of the facility and ensuring adequate fuel supply for the facility for the terms of the Power Purchase Agreement.
