IT is usually an impossibility to convince a politician that he should engage the gears in his brain before he presses on the accelerator controlling what emanates from his mouth.

Some years ago Desmond McKenzie felt the need to voice an excess of praise and adulation for the man who apparently made him, grew him, glossed him over, and gave him his political birth — Eddie Seaga.

Out of some Freudian need, or simply because he wanted to prove that Seaga's strength could best be expressed by a demonstration of his (McKenzie's) own weakness, Desmond admitted that Seaga gave him a public beating inside Tivoli Gardens. According to McKenzie, "Him beat mi bimshee!"

We should talk about all garrisons, and more than that, we should do something about them.

But I will not stop educating some of the verandah gum-beaters here that 13 PNP garrisons don't cause as much trouble as the Mother of all Garrisons. That Tivoli Gardens - Denham Town nexus must continue to be the focus of our law enforcement officers. Indeed we are not doing nearly enough to flush out the gunmen, many of whom, coincidentally, share the last name of Coke.

Sure hope Holness testifies at the inquiry. This should be interesting. We will soon have a more clearer understanding of the Tivoli development model. For the life of me I can't understand why LKY didn't have a chapter on said model in his book. Hopefully the critical thinkers of Belmont road can correct this glaring omission in their upcoming development manifesto. Help dem out nuh man.
