  • 'Stop prosecuting people with ganja, burning fields'

"Please, Mr Government, ask you police and the army to stop digging down the world number one brand ganja," Ras Arthur Newland shouted out emphatically.

"We believe the persecution and the lock up for ganja must stop immediately," he declared during the well attended meeting which heralds the formal launch of the association set for April 5, 2014 at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Seems like there is still that lingering stigma regarding weed.
Had that not been the case, the Govt would be seen as destroying the seeds of viable economic success
I believe recently I read about a particular tree being depleted primarily because it is supplemented as coal by people n the jerk industry.
My guess is our govt plans does not include small farners in any meaningful way, they have been bypassed.
Truth is legalizing weed isn't an altruistic venture by the Govt,it would have been legal to Rasta....
It is financial venture which means the ongoing eradication ....is akin to shooting oneself in the foot.
To be honest, your perspective on the link between Humab Rights and illegality of wee is sound.

The human rights abuse is holistic, you deny a man the means of supporting himself and family ,deny him and family a right to treat self medicinally,to use it culturally ,then you abuse them by force and incarceration ,some cases death.

Some dismiss it as a leisurely insignificant issue,to continue the process of known abuse, hide behind propoganda of addiction and zombies to justify as Ben says governmental economical malpractice.
