Karl,Hortical was taking a jab at me,I am notorious for run on sentences, strange because one bloidy thing I always give its resoect is period.
Informal writing entiles far more freedom, and it is not as if English is devine;it has been unfair to my race.
The discussion has morphed into something entirely different.
We all agree there is room for improvements,we welcome initiatives geared to doing that but the reason given is suspect. It likely demonstrates that having command of the language does not necessarily mean the thought process is superior.

We write what we think, the delivery or the package?

Hold up deh,if we are to even entertain the mere assertion that patwah is the culprit then making the distinction between both languages is crucial.
Do we talk or sign to the deaf?

obviously patwa is not the culprit...it's irresponsible use of patwa that is the culprit

Not only our people, every nation suffers at english , not many excel at writing english and it isnt limited to Jamaica, not many excel at speaking english and it isnt only Jamaica. If we look at America, the standard varies in the oral form from state to state i.e New York english and Louisina southern rural english is of two different form.

This English initiative is a joke, the article i posted up top is clear about this ,patwa crime is that it usurped other local dialects i.e cockney etc.
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Patois is a cultural construct. Cant be used for business with the outside world...except music and some entertainment.

                We like to deny reality.
