Four killed in alleged shoot-out <DIV class=KonaBody>
The Bureau of Special Investigations is probing the circumstances under which four alleged robbers were shot dead by police in downtown Kingston on Monday night.
Dead are Ricardo Wilson, 21, otherwise called Ricky, Jason Gillespie also known as Jason Show and a man known as 'Kirky' all from Wilton 'Rema' Gardens in St. Andrew, and another man known as 'Richie' or 'Blacks' of an Harbour View, Kingston, address.
Police reports are that at 7:40 on Monday night, the four men armed with guns robbed two people in Mona, St. Andrew, of their motor vehicle, cash and cellular phone.
At 9:45 pm after the robbery, the men reportedly drove to a restaurant in the Harbour View Shopping Centre where they robbed patrons and employees of an undetermined sum of money and cellphones.
More than an hour later, a police party on patrol in the Kingston Central area signalled the car with four men aboard to stop. The driver reportedly disobeyed and sped away. The police chased the car and on reaching the intersection of Port Royal and East streets the car crashed into a wall and the four men alighted and opened fire. A shoot-out reportedly followed and when the dust settled the four men were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
They were pronounced dead at hospital. The police reportedly recovered two guns with eight cartridges from the men.</DIV>
