All Obama can do is posture, and threaten sanctions I guess.

The US does not have the stomach for any more wars, having spent the better part of the last 12 years fighting two with very little to show for it. Putin knows this only too well.

In addition the big money that ultimately calls the shots may ignore and even profit from regional wars, but there are no winners in a 21st century war between two or more major military powers. They like making tons of money and enjoying the good life.

All the doomsday talk is hyperbole.

The Republicans are like pesky flies. They see this as an opportunity to continue to paint Obama as weak. I saw Rudy Guillianni almost getting a hard on over Putin. He was saying admirably, that Putin is a "real" leader. He's decisive. John Kerry licking out against Putin's insurgence into a sovereign country, sounds like a real hypocrite because of the two Bush wars. The truth is that there is not much Obama can do because an armed conflict is not an option.

There is little the US can do but it has nothing to do with "German backative". Ukraine is tied into Russia militarily, physically & culturally... so the US is not a big player there. They can only meddle in Ukraine's affairs from the sidelines

Germany is occupied territory... riddled with US military bases.. which means they don't even know half of what goes on within their own territory... aks Angela Merkel an har phone company

West Europeans don't control their military/security affairs since 1945... Americans do
