    I was listening to some ragtime music and I heard a song with almost the exact words from the chorus of the mighty diamonds "I need a roof". I have to find that ragtime song

    On another note I recall my grandmother referring to "secular music" as "rag song" and I know that ragtime music is associated with "laissez Bon temps roulez" and thus if there is some relationship between
    my grandmother's "rag song" and ragtime music....

      I agree with your grandma but the thing is ragtime and jazz overlapped each other in the early 1900s gradually giving way to Jazz with its horns influence.Ragtime had more of a piano and guitar leaning,more so piano .Some people really cant tell the difference ,as for the song ,good luck on your search, try this website.
