Privatisation Of Kingston Container Terminal Near

THE PRIVATISATION of the Kingston Container Terminal (KCT) is expected to be completed by September.
Principals of a major Singaporean company on Tuesday met with government officials as they discuss the proposed privatisation of the KCT.
Senior officials from Port of Singapore (PSA) Terminal Link Consortium, one of three large global terminal operators which have been pre-qualified to bid for the KCT, on Tuesday held talks with the management of KCT and Transport and Works Minister Dr Omar Davies and Port Authority executives.
The executives of the Singaporean company also carried out a site visit at the terminal.
"The Port of Singapore team will return on March 10 to begin a detailed technical assessment of the KCT facilities," Davies reported.
He said similar visits are arranged for the other bidders, with Dubia Ports World scheduled for March 17 and 18 and China Harbour Engineering Company and China Merchant Holding International, a consortium, scheduled for March 19 to 21.
"The Draft Concession Agreement outlined in the terms and conditions of the agreement under which the port will be privatised has been prepared and provided to bidders," Davies said.
The bids are to be returned on May 22, 2014 and evaluation completed by June 2, after which a provisional bidder will be selected. The commencement of negotiations of the Concession Agreement will follow.
