Further action has been taken by the People's National Party (PNP) to quell the leadership row in its affiliate the National Workers' Union (NWU)
At a meeting of the PNP’s executive late Monday, the Party appointed Member of Parliament Andre Hylton and Professor Winston Davidson as its representatives on the NWU's General Executive Council. They will attend the union's next council meeting.
Julian Robinson, PNP Deputy General Secretary says action will be taken to settle the dispute that has rocked the NWU.
“The Party is also going to identify a professional mediator or conciliator who can continue the process of dialogue that started last week between members of the union, primarily the union and the executive, we intend to identify someone in the next week or two and have that person continue the process of dialogue” he said.
The party intervened last week after a public squabble erupted between Vincent Morrison, NWU President Vincent Morrison and Granville Valentine,Vice President.
There were reports of a battle between Morrison and Valentine for control of the NWU and its affiliate the Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees, (UCASE).
UCASE has since announced plans to sever ties with the NWU.
