Audley Shaw, former Opposition Spokesman on Finance, has revealed that he has been in talks with Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader Andrew Holness, but is refusing to say whether he's heading back to the Shadow Cabinet.
Mr. Shaw, who was defeated by Mr. Holness in last November's leadership election, told RJR News on Sunday that he met with Mr. Holness late last week.
The North East Manchester MP spoke with our correspondent, following a JLP Area Council Three meeting in Clarendon, but declined to give details, when pressed about the discussions and whether he was ready to return as Spokesman on Finance.
The meeting with Holness took place on Thursday (January 16), Shaw revealed, lasting "probably over an hour."
"Describing the discussion as "very fruitful", he added that he would allow Mr. Holness to announce any decision that might have arisen from the meeting.
Sunday's meeting was Mr. Shaw's first public appearance on a JLP platform since his leadership bid.
The previous Sunday he was scheduled to be one of the main speakers at a South Central St. Catherine constituency conference. He was absent, however, reportedly because he had taken ill.
Audley Shaw, now a senior member of the JLP, served as Finance Minister during the party's last term in government: 2007-2011.
He had also been a longstanding Deputy Leader of the JLP until he gave up that post in pursuit of the leadership.
