Bought it last November on sale for $29. You can broadcast netflix & youtube directly from your phone or tablet to your TV. Most of the channels require a paid monthly fee like netflix. The drawback is they have a very limited number of channels, and they need to add a lot more like CNN & ESPN. So many wireless contraptions that you could get including logitech that would allow you all that you mention WITHOUT the privacy issues associated with Google.

Logitech Revue actually it runs the Google TV android app that gives you access to online services like YouTube, Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon Video on Demand and Internet radio apps like Pandora. In addition, you can install apps for your Revue from the Google Play store.
I got one as a git from my kids sm time ago and it worked well with Netflixand streaming video. Seems Logitech thing it was a mistake to pair up with GoogleT V and claimed they lost a lot..but still supported...no new ones though (not abs sure)....box has own router if you dont hv one already..
