THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

I recall the dollar being stable at 86 for about 2 years. Of course that wasn't good enough so of course hypocrites like Don1 will justify the current rate. Dis is what the ppl want.

The IMF sets targets and in many cases "advises" or "directs" the Govt how to achieve them. If the IMF is not satisfied then IMF/World Bank/IADB and also private financing will be unavailable.... that amounts to effective control of policy.
However the GOJ still has political responsibility for everything.

The cost of that "stability" was One Turd's samfie by increasing foreign debt frontloaded to him by US$5Billion ... without implementing necessary structural reforms recommended by the IMF. That led to a failed IMF program and much time wasted which... Termites had to correct under much stricter terms from the IMF

You need to learn basic economic policy analysis...I would say go back to school, but your deficiency is more tribal than educational

The fact that the IMF is calling the shots and the GOJ is following should be clear to any thinking observer...unfortunately most observers are incapable of clear thinking

Chungie's article is simple but brilliant (not surprising considering the school background )... and it deserves full play

Fortunately we have Our Peeps in the key economic positions (even after Lati was removed from BOJ) ... Minister of Fine Ants, Chairman of the Economic Program Oversight Committee, Chairman of the Energy Oversight Committee... and even Head of the IMF Caribbean Division responsible for Jamaica's program

Nuh fret Jamaica... You're in Good Hands.... wooooiiieeee

What is the benefit to Jamaica of these most recent "market" determined increases to the Jamaican economy?

When it was fixed there was an FX underground market, and now we have a "legit market of our final institutions and companies taking all the US dollars for them self and continuing this cycle that is not benefiting anyone in the country.

Fix the route problems yes, but this current float, that only seems to go up, only hurts.

Sometimes it is better that you keep quiet Mosiah. The fact is it was stable at 86, I guess it heading to 107 is seen as progress. Politicians isn't Jamaica's problem, it is unthinking people that elect the idiots that have no clue.

... and even though there was a standoff with the IMF the dollar remained stable. That is your problem, I guess because you had the misfortune of growing up in a PNP household you cannot give credit. No wonder clowns like you come out trying to justify the continued devalue of the dollar. You PNP people are a different breed.

Yuteman the "dollar remained stable" because the FX reserves were boosted by US$5Billion in new debt in a mere 3 years (boosting foreign DEBT 60%!!!) so the inevitable FX rate adjustment was merely postponed...
That type of MASSIVE borrowing is not available today except under IMF conditionalities & IMF direction... Jamaica reached the end of that reckless borrowing road under One Turd and now has to face reality i.e. Bitta Medicine
