        That was music ,did you know Jamaica had a well known calypsonian (hollywood) known who was the rave of america in the 1950s, when he died over 25,000 attended his death in miami, or was it 2,500, anyway he was our 1st international star.

        I am sure historian knows , guess who ?..he died at 25 to 27 y.o

          Zombie Jamboree by Louis Eugene Wolcott who became Louis Farrakhan later. In the 1950s, Wolcott started his professional music career by recording several calypso albums as a singer under the name "The Charmer". He also performed on tour. In February 1955, using part of his middle name, Eugene, "Calypso Gene" was headlining a show in Chicago, Illinois, entitled "Calypso Follies." One of his songs was on the top 100 Billboard Chart for five years in a row.

                    Wow , mi neva know dat, but still ans my question , different bredda, Calypso was the thing in the 40s to 50s in the states.Jamaica had another superstar then ,who Belafonte copied to stardom.

                      I know he did some calypso and probably other genres back in the day, but I did not remember his name, so I did not know this was him.
