SAN ANTONIO -- A local police officer is under investigation for shooting another man over the weekend, and emerging details reveal the shooting happened following a disagreement during a wife-swapping plan.

Olmos Park Police Officer Frankie Salazar has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. San Antonio Police say the 29-year-old off-duty officer shot a 33-year old man when their wives backed out of or didn't know about their husbands' wife-swapping plan.

"There's information that some of the parties agreed to exchange sexual partners," said SAPD spokesperson Sgt. Javier Salazar. "At some point during the evening's events, somebody changed their mind and their was a disagreement."

That's when police say the off-duty cop shot his acquaintance several times. Police say the men had been planning the wife-swapping scheme for at least several months before it fell through early Saturday morning. Olmos Park Police Chief Frtiz Bohne had just hired the Salazar last January, and the chief's not at all happy with him.

"We have an officer that made a mistake, made a bad judgement," Olmos Park Police Chief Fritz Bohne told us. "And as I tried to tell kids that want to get into law enforcement, be careful about your decisions cause decisions have long-term consequences."

Officer Salazar has been suspended without pay. He goes before a district judge in January for an initial appearance.

Officer not pleased. Man planned to venture into new territory only to be told, the gate naah open tonight. Well, if found guilty he will be going to prison to find a boyfriend and the wife will have a boyfriend. What a la la if it turns out to be the dude he shot.
