Key Witness Tells Court Kartel, Shawn Storm Wanted Him Out Of Ja

    Published: Wednesday November 27, 2013 | 4:30 pm0 Comments

The main witness at the Vybz Kartel murder trial today told the court of a plan by the deejay and fellow entertainer Shawn Storm to get him out of the country to prevent him from telling the authorities about the alleged killing of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

The witness also denied suggestions by the defense that he made up a story about what happened at Kartel’s house on August 16, 2011.

Kartel and four others are charged with Williams' murder.

The witness said a day after the alleged attack Campbell spoke to him telling him that he was going to take him to Guyana.

The witness said he told Campbell that he did not have a suitcase and the entertainer told him that he would get one for him.

According to the witness, Campbell told him that he was taking him out of the country because he did not want anybody to question him.

The witness said Campbell later gave him the suitcase which he said he took to his house and put clothes in it.

He said a few days later Campbell called him and told him to get ready.

He said he and Campbell took a taxi to the airport.

He said the taxi was driven by the same driver who took him, Campbell, and Lizard to Kartel’s house.

The witness said when they arrived at the airport he was met by Kartel and two other men who he identified as Sheeba and Mooney.

He said a plane ticket was purchased for him but they did not get to go on the flight as it had already left.

The witness said he was told to return the Thursday morning.

The witness said the Wednesday night he went back to Waterford in Portmore and called his family to come get him and he left the community that night.

He said he did not go to the airport as was planned.

He said Campbell called him and asked him if he was ready but he said he was not going.

The witness said Kartel also called him asking him if he was going on the flight to Guyana because he did not want anybody to question him.

MThe key witness testified that on the day he and Lizard were allegedly attacked at Kartel’s house he was not able to see all the accused because of the light from a blackberry cellphone that was constantly shining.

He said he went with Kartel to the hospital because he wanted him to know that he was not involved in what was going on.

Under cross examination from defense attorney Tom Tavares-Finson, the witness denied suggestions that Lizard did not go to Kartel’s house.

He maintained that he, Lizard and Campbell entered the premises.

The witness denied suggestions that he and police investigators are a part of conspiracy and that he made up a story about what happened on August 16.

A prosecution witness yesterday gave damning evidence against Vybz Kartel and his four co-accused as their murder trial continued in the Home Circuit Court, downtown Kingston.

The witness, who gave an initial statement that led to Kartel and Shawn 'Shawn Storm' Campbell, Andre St John, Kahira Jones, and Shane Williams being arrested and charged with murder, seemed to tremble while on the witness stand.

Deejay Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer leaving court last Thursday afternoon.

He testified that he was present at a house on Swallowfield Avenue in Havendale, St Andrew on August 16, 2011 when Clive 'Lizard' Williams was attacked.

The witness, who was surrounded by a security detail of about 10 police officers, said he and Williams were summoned by Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, to the house to give account for two illegal firearms that went missing while in their care.

He was accompanied to the house by Campbell in a taxi driven by a man known as 'Nefa', who he begged not to leave him. He said, after a brief exchange between Kartel and Williams, Kartel invited them inside.

"Lizard say he gave 'Browns' the gun to put back, so Mr Palmer say, 'So wha unu plan fi do?' Lizard say we plan fi buy dem back. Kahira hold Lizard backway. I saw that, and after that I ran in a room. I think something was going happen to me to," the witness said.

The witness said he attempted to lock himself into a room at the back of the house, but was prevented from doing so by Kartel and Campbell, who forced the door open.

He said Kartel assured him that everything was all right, embraced him and brought him back into the living room where Lizard was.

"Mi notice Lizard was on the ground, and him wasn't moving. Kahira was over him and 'Mad Suss' (St John) was beside him with a block," he said.

"What kind of block?" Justice Lennox Campbell then asked.

"Block what you use to build," he answered.

He said other men were in the house peeping out from other rooms.

"Lizard was lying on his back," he said.

At that point the witness said he slipped from Kartel's grasp and escaped.
"Mi jump the first gate, and then jump the big red gate. Mi run go straight up the road," he said.

The witness testified that while he was running he heard Kartel behind him shouting that everything was all right, and that he had been bitten by his own pit bull.

Yesterday, the usually rowdy band of Kartel supporters were noticeably absent when the trial ended and he was being transported back to jail.

          The taxi driver?

Well, perhaps! But do you think the writer could have said so, and could have given us a first name while he's at it?!?!

This guy Finson(isn't a bad lawyer),the witness again went with a taxi driver that previously took him and Lizard to a death trap?He witnessed Lizard getting guaranteed that his life would not be taken. The same guy that is running. for his life but was thoughtful enough to stop and attend to his attacker's injury?
Kartel is a very very dangerous guy,he is spot on when he claims he has the ability to cast mystical, hypnotic spells on people.
Tavres is going to get this murderer to walk.

Finson...Tavares...same person, Rockie?! Den why yuh a try confuse di hell outta wi?!?!

If the "murderer" walks, I think it will be due to the shoddy investigation of the police, even after 3 long years! sigh!

As for the witness turning back to help Kartel after the pit bull bite...perfectly plausible! Where was he running to?!? He knew he would have only been able to escape Kartel's grasp for a short time. Why not try to show some mercy, and then beg forgiveness and sympathy on the way to the hospital? It was his extreme profound fear of what may happen if he did not stop and help the crazy entertainer.

And it could very well be a spell Kartel placed on his scared arse!

I know, but the writer didn't find it necessary to identify the person.

His son is on the legal team hence the eventual distinction.
Running removed him from certain death, foot don't fail me now(or nuh run tan up) is still relevant.
In the end,he chose to keep a distance between himself and Kartel, and he is here to testify.

You know Mr President,if I am walking and a car stop with armed occupants telling me to get in, I would tell them kill me right yahso pon de road.
                          The Witness decisions are questionable.
