Jamaican man attempts murder-suicide with daughter

A man who took a picture of his baby daughter on Monday, uploaded it to Facebook, then shot and killed her before, attempting to kill himself in Denver, Colorado, USA has now been identified as a Jamaican national. He is 22-year-old Merrick McKoy from Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
He migrated to the United States in 1999. On the morning of the tragic incident McKoy’s ex-lover, Kimphone “Kim” Phanthavongsa, reported to the police that when she woke up, she saw the 22-year-old man standing over her with a gun. She managed to flee the apartment, and made a call to the police at a neighbour’s house.
A police officer who arrived on the scene, stated that he heard gunshots coming from the apartment and discovered a child and an adult suffering from gunshot wounds. They were then taken to hospital, where the child died, however the condition of the man is unknown. Police stated that a restraining order had been placed on McKoy prohibiting him from being at the apartment.
