Jamaican Supreme Court rules against gay rights activist in challenge to media houses

The Supreme Court of Jamaica on Friday morning handed down a judgment in favour of three media companies in the constitutional case brought by Jamaican gay rights activist, Maurice Tomlinson.
The media houses had refused to carry a commercial promoting tolerance towards homosexuals, a decision which Tomlinson decided to challenge in court.
The court's decision was unanimous, that the claimant's right to freedom of expression did not override the right of the media houses to decline to carry his message.
