Yuh comparing Walter Rodney to Marcus Garvey ??
lol ! woiee !
I repeat.. Jamaica and particularly Jamaican black people would be better off today if Walter Rodney had never been born.
<Rodney traveled widely and became very well known internationally as an activist, scholar and formidable orator. He taught at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania during the period 1966-67 and later in Jamaica at his alma mater UWI Mona. He was sharply critical of the middle class for its role in the post-independence Caribbean. He was also a strong critic of capitalism and argued for a socialist development template.[1]>
Nothing more needs be said.. here lies the root of all our evil today in Jamaica..
When the next disaster.. Manley tek dat and run wid it to achieve power.. that was the end...
Jamaica jumped off the Singapore track and unto the road to perdition..Last edited by Muadib; October 11, 2013, 04:29 PM.

LOL.. Jamaica was on a Singapore track?? woooiiee mi cerebellum!!
Afta 10 years of dat trickle down so called "Singapore Track".... inna 1972 Jamaica had 40% illiteracy... and a nex 30-40%% wid no marketable skills, no industry except bauxite extraction fueled from di 1950s-1960s post war economic boom, slave-like conditions for most in the working class, huge income disparity wid di corrupt latte sippin 21 Family element yuh love livin large while most a suffa... and MASSIVE social discontent because the entire development path was skewed to satisfy said 21 Family spiritually corrupt & selfish elements.
In 1972 Jamaica was a powder keg... but if persons only got their understanding of Jamaica from an Uppa S'nandrew verandah... such persons would be supremely ignorant
Unfortunately Jamaica had only a few real capitalists to spur development. Most of the capitalist class were assorted traders and margin gatherers wid likkle value add ... basically private sector leeches. Such elements are NOT capable of transforming society via their business activities
That clearly was a plantation style environment you and your Roast Breadfruit Verandah cohort would be 100% comfortable wid...but.... most Miggle Passengers neva love dat atall
BTW... at the root of real baseline economic development is education...a clear area of massive failure in the Education Cyaan Nyam 1960s....
That focus on education is why the leading societies in the world i.e. Scandinavian social democracies... are on top of the development curve... Yes... even Singapore as well... education run di cut dehsuh same way
Yeah right... wi did deh pon a Singapore Track fi choo...inna yuh Fantasy Land ..LOLLast edited by Don1; October 11, 2013, 05:11 PM.TIVOLI: THE DESTRUCTION OF JAMAICA'S EVIL EMPIRE

Um.. look like di miggle passage innah stats class addle yuh brain..
Compare Jamaica at the time to other developing Countries.. INCLUDING Singapore.. on all the indicators you have presented..
Educate yourself...
Manley took an OPPOSITE policy approach to Lee Kuan Yew.. road to perdition.. the platform was not perfect but none were at the time not even Yew's...
Somehow I don't think Seaga would have gone down that road to perdition..
Speaking of 21 families...
<Simultaneously, he wooed the national capitalist class, threatened by Seaga with dire penalties for tax evasion, by pointing them to the benefits of economic nationalism which was to be achieved by "wresting the commanding heights of the economy from foreign control.">
Threatened by who ??

when you're plucking choice quotes for your benefit...pls provide a link to the source so others can peruse
If you have the position that Manley's policies subsequent to 1972 led to very negative economic results that's a reasonable position.....but that doesn't negate my description of the falsehood that Jamaica was on a "Singapore Path" in 1972... it was definitely NOT
That is a specious argument when one examines the fundamentals of the economy & society circa 1972... it was a powder kegTIVOLI: THE DESTRUCTION OF JAMAICA'S EVIL EMPIRE
