Mosiah currently there no legislation to stop them from owning business or getting approval. There is for security work.

The problem is you can't discriminate against a good cop running a good successful business, but for bad cops running a bad business they should be punished.

You can't just say cops can do a barber shop because drugs is been sold out of a barbershop. What is next? cops can't own funeral homes because too many murders are been committed? I understand your frustration but you just can't stop people from make a living within the law especially when the police salary is not very much.

Certain jobs lend holders of such posts to having conflict of interest if certain other type activities are engaged in.

Cops are required to uphold the law and if the other activity which cops wish to engage in could cause a conflict of interest...then it appears to me it would be logical to prohibit cops or their immediate relatives from engaging in such activites. Right?

Agree with Mosiah that cops should not even be allowed to hold other jobs - period. The many varied ways security could be compromised and conflicts could arise suggest the cop should work as cop only.

...and specific to activities that require compliance with the road traffic laws in Jamaica, the Jamaica cops should be prevented from engaging in commercial activities that may put them in a position where cops' integrity could be compromised as a result of conflict(s) of interest.

I have no doubt that cop ownership is a problem but the good can't suffer for the bad. A nuff police provide decent law abiding employment on the side.

Can't shut down the decent law abiding ones. For the bad ones, we need to come down hard on them.
