Pusey Says Light Bulb Prosecutors Must End Case By November

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey today insisted that she wants prosecutors in the corruption trial of former junior minister Kern Spencer to wrap up their case by the end of November.
"Even if I have to come on here on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays or (for) night court. Anything ... We have to complete this matter," Pusey said .
Spencer and his former personal assistant Colleen Wright have been charged with money laundering and illicit enrichment arising from the implementation of the Cuban light bulb programme.
Pusey noted that the case was placed on her trial list on June 22, 2009 when her son was eight months old.
"My son is now five years-old," she remarked.
"I'm not seeing this matter next year," the magistrate continued.
The trial has seen numerous stops and starts.
The most recent came last year after Pusey made an order for lead prosecutor Paula Llewellyn to remain outside the court while former accused-turned crown witness Rodney Chin testified about a meeting he attended with her while he was still jointly charged in the case.
Llewellyn refused and took the matter to the Judicial Review Court where the order was quashed.
Pusey appealed the ruling but it was dismissed by the Court of Appea
