Lazie: There is none among us who disagree with the notion that there must be economic growth. We are also all agreed that any movement towards having a society with none below today's proverty line must include increased economic growth.

However, you can have a country showing increasing economic growth and that filtering of the 'goodies' that come with such ever increasing economic growth not filitering to the great benefit of the masses. We had such a situation in the good old days of the JLP led '60s and '80s.

The quotation you put up above emphasises - "...REMOVING THE DISTORTIONS IN THE ECONOMY" - that fact. It must be that the DISTORTATIONS spoken of are those which prevent and or inhibit the poorest being at the table to partake of any improved economic growth.
