I remember watching a documentary about the disco era some years ago, and they said they switched to disco because they were told they would not be marketable as a black rock band.

I found that interesting given that Chris Blackwell on the other side of the world was trying to break the Wailers into the mainstream as a sort of alternative black rock band around the same time.
