<Professor Brian Meeks has said Jamaica could have the last chance to get things right or it could spell catastrophe for the country.
"I think we are on the last lap, I genuinely think that this sort of illusory notion that Jamaica is here to stay fails in the face of history. Many states have disappeared, other ones have been born," Meeks said. "We have this illusory notion I suppose because in part, we are an island, we are bounded by the sea, and we have this illusory sensor that gives us this sort of permanency. People who live on continental land masses know that boundaries of the state change and sometimes the state changes all together."
Meeks said in his opinion, Jamaica is moving in the wrong direction, and that we need to find a way to recover it.>
