Supreme Court judge Bryan Sykes has turned down the application to accept two witness statements at the murder trial of dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel.
Justice Sykes handed down his ruling a short while ago.
He said he was not convinced that the prosecution took enough steps to locate the witnesses.
Justice Sykes says the jury will now be directed to return a formal verdict of not guilty.
The 12-member jury is to return to the Home Circuit Court tomorrow.
This now means that Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer, will be acquitted.
He and Lenburgh McDonald and Nigel Thompson were taken into custody for the 2011 shooting murder of the St Catherine businessman, Barrington 'Bossy' Burton. -
Are the prosecutors clueless, or the case was weak from morning?

The witnesses disappeared...not much they can do about that...yes he has another case in the courts...the one that they claim to have video evidence of the murder...Comment

How easy would it be for the police to conspire with an individual to testify against someone and then have them stay away from the trial so they can't be cross examined by the defence?Comment

Woieee mi belly...di key witness in the case gave his wrong date of birth...tell dem him born in Spanish Town hospital and there is no record of him being born there...Tavares Finson just confirmed that after pressuring the DPP there is no DNA or video evidence in the second murder trial...the (4) cell phones that were "found" in Kartel's cell that he supposedly used to threaten a witness do not exist...it was a fabrication...woieeeeee..is which bigman wife Adi sleep wit?Comment
