Anthony Hylton Lauds GraceKennedy's Move

Minister of Investment, Industry and Commerce Anthony Hylton has renewed his call for persons and investors to start making preparations to participate in the logistics hub activities slated for Montego Bay.
Hylton emphasised that it was critical that the message gets out so that investors could commence planning and preparation well in advance.
He has also endorsed the GraceKennedy Group for its foresight in seeking to accommodate potential investors who wish to tap into the pending logistics hub from a early stage.
The minister made the comment during a discussion with Courtney Wilson, manager of First Global Bank (FGB), Montego Bay branch - a subsidiary of the GraceKennedy Group, before going on record with reporters.
"Grace has been and is involved in logistics. Grace knows the space very well. I have had the occasion to say to some of Grace's managers in various areas that Grace knows the story and can communicate to the Jamaican people, the centrality of logistics in general and about the logistics hub that is being built, and they have confirmed that they will try to get the word across," Hylton remarked.

He continued: "There are various activities through their financing arm and they too are seeing a heightened level of interest in the logistics hub. Managers have pointed out to me some of the activities that they have been approached with for possible investments."
Hylton said the Government had already begun to see positive response, with other financial institutions already reporting increasing interests for investments in logistics-related activities.
In January this year, Hylton had said his administration would hold a series of public consultations across the country to inform the public of plans for the proposed logistics hub initiative. The first meeting was scheduled with representatives of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce.
The Government had announced that it would commence the development of a trans-shipment and logistics hub to better place Jamaica to take advantage of the expected increase in maritime activities that should result from the expansion of the Panama Canal by 2015.
