Tourist arrival down 5 per cent in April

One of the key sectors from which Jamaica earns foreign exchange which can help keep the dollar stable, continues to have weak performance. The Jamaica Tourist Board published final data, showing tourist arrivals fell 5 per cent in April. The decline followed a respite in March.
Since the start of the year, a total of 712,000 stop-over arrivals have been recorded, which is down 5.2 per cent from the corresponding period last year.
At the same time, cruise arrivals in April totaled 101,000, which is down 12 per cent from a year ago.
