D.C. United sign Nicholas Addlery

Washington, D.C. - D.C. United has signed forward Nicholas Addlery to fill the final spot on its 28-man roster. Addlery joined United on trial after the United Soccer League's Virginia Beach Mariners folded. During his trial, Addlery scored two goals in team's reserve scrimmage against Harrisonburg earlier in the month. Per Major League Soccer policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Nicholas has impressed us during the last few weeks of training and he has earned the opportunity to be on our roster," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "He is a strong target striker who puts away chances in front of the goal."
Addlery's international career includes spending last year in the Vietnamese first Division. Previously, he spent parts of 2003 and 2005 in the Trinidad and Tobago First Division playing for CL Financial San Juan Jobleth and Star World Strikers FC. He was also a member of the 2004 U-23 Jamaican National Team. His first international appearance representing the U-20 Jamaican side came in the qualifying matches for the 2001 Youth World Cup in Argentina. The 6'1, 185 pound Jamaican forward has a green card and will therefore not count as a senior international.
As a college player for California University of Pennsylvania from 1999-2002, Addlery was a NSCAA/Umbro All-Region selection during the 2000 and 2002 season. In all, he played 75 games, scored 52 goals and recorded 20 assists for the Vulcans.
