Western Jamaica-based educator Jeannette Solomon has expressed disappointment with recent utterances from former presidents of the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA), Doran Dixon and Paul Adams.
At a JTA public consultation last week, Dixon, the principal lecturer and head of the Social Sciences Department at The Mico University College, compared the association's dispute with the Ministry of Education to a fight between "a mongrel dog" and "a lion-hearted cat".
During another public consultation, Adams snidely suggested that stances taken by the education ministry could possibly be explained by the temporary influence of cocaine.
Yesterday, Solomon, a former principal of St James High School, in Montego Bay, said her preferred approach would be dialogue and not name calling.
