Police Corporal Ian Gray, was today granted bail on charges of breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

Gray, 40, is attached to the Mobile Reserve Police Division.

It is reported that in December last year, Gray was on duty in the Kingston 11 area when he accosted a motorist who was transporting ganja.

The Corporal is reported to have solicited and accepted a sum of money from the motorist in return for not laying charges against him.

A report was made to the Anti-Corruption Branch and following investigations, a file was prepared and submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who ruled that Gray be charged.

He was arrested on a warrant and brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, where he was offered bail in the sum of $200,000.

A Stop Order was also placed on him.

Gray is scheduled to reappear in Court on Tuesday, June 16.

Good question. I just realize that the report did not state that it was the drug dealer who made the report.
