A dispute between the police and the private sector in downtown Kingston has left the area without the benefit of closed-circuit television(CCTV).
It is reported that the disagreement centred on who should monitor the CCTVs from a control centre in the business district.
The problem was further compounded by the refusal of the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation to give permission for street lights in the commercial district to be outfitted with cameras that would have been purchased with private-sector money.
