HENRICK Murray is a defeated man. For the past three years Murray, his wife Karen and their twin 14-year-old daughters have experienced a drastic change for the worse in their lives.
Things took a turn for the worse when Karen Murray, 38, was hit in the back by a bullet fired allegedly by members of the security forces during the May 2010 incursion in Tivoli Gardens as they attempted to serve an arrest warrant on incarcerated former strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.
COKE... woman crippled by bullet when security forces went after him.
1/1
The woman was standing in her home located in a high-rise building at Tivoli Court when a projectile smashed through a window and lodged in her back.
The gunshot damaged her spine and rendered her crippled for life and incontinent.
Now she is confined to a wheelchair.
"She can't help herself anymore. Our lives have been devastated because of the incident. We were both employed. She was a supervisor at LIME and I had my job at D&G but I got laid off. We were not involved in any criminality but since she has been shot, our lives mash up," a dejected Murray told the Jamaica Observer.
Murray was even more bitter when he recalled that today is Mother's Day and he would love to give his wife and the mother of his children the perfect gift. But sadly he cannot find a way to make her walk again.
