Following flood damage in September 2002, the Government quickly built a Bailey Bridge that spanned 240 feet, and was said to be the longest in the world, to provide fording. The bridge was officially opened three days after the October 2002 general election and was hailed by Prime Minister P J Patterson as an example of the Government's efficiency.

However, it collapsed months later.

Apparently its the norm.
