Yes the police presence was well over-the-top.

I don't think there was a precinct with an officer on duty. They came in bus loads.

I think they used this as an opportunity to send a message to would-be terrorists...that any form of terrorism will be dealt with overwhelmingly!!!

After the WTC basement bombings in NYC several years ago, imagine if they had locked down all of Manhattan for a day, or two! I guess they could do this in Boston.

Not trying to belittle what the young AMERICAN terrorists did but just saying...

I believe it will set a precedent for how America deals with similar events in the future. And when you think of it, might as well go hard and dun!

Tough call. If the authorities didn't shut down the city and the terrorists killed a few more people there would be a lot of criticism.

I think they decided to gamble and fortunately it worked out. If they didn't find them over the weekend they would have had to lift the restrictions.
