Exactly but a 240 volts circuit really is just a more efficient way of delivering 110 volts(more amp),whereas you do not have a neutral,both commons never assumed the same role at the same time(1 positive when the other is negative).
Whereas the streetlights require more amp than a household light, that proportion is largely maintained regarding industrial usages(requiring more amp than streetlights), hence big bad streetlights are the least costly.

R the streetlight 110v though? we uses to have the double circuit at home for washing machine etc long time ago. It was 110v times 2 =220v delivery.

U never see how dem bawl about cost for night events at stadium... and how dem jack up rental fees on that basis alone?
