<Jamaica has set itself up for more breathing room in 2013. It does not have any external bond payments for 2013 (Figure 8) and it has less interest expense due to the restructuring. In addition, if it secures this IMF agreement, Jamaica will have more opportunities to request financing from organization such as the World Bank, the IDB and the EU. However, its dependence on unsustainable financing sources such as the NHT and Petrocaribe, and structural concerns such as a lack of a set debt ceiling, are unsettling. Jamaica is already exerting such strenuous effort to secure the IMF agreement that we think should they encounter any obstacles after the IMF agreement, they simply will not have any leverage left to apply. We are not optimistic about Jamaica‟s ability to push their economy forward given their circumstances and recommend investors to be wary of the credit.>
