Jamaica Still Not On IMF Calendar

Financial analyst Ralston Hyman is raising concern that Jamaica’s economic programme is still not on the calendar of the board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for discussion.
Speaking on Independent Talk on Power 106 FM this morning, Hyman noted that Jamaica is not on the list of countries down to get attention up to April 10.
He is calling for Finance Minister, Dr Peter Phillips to explain why Jamaica is still not on the calendar.
Hyman is also questioning the sustainability of the proposed IMF programme given current revenue numbers.
Hyman says up to December, revenues were $14 billion short of the $254 billion targeted by the government.
Already the country is bracing for the tabling of what is expected to be a very lean budget on Thursday.
Dr Phillips recently told journalists that while the upcoming budget will be nominally higher than last year’s, there will be a reduction in real terms
