  • I-Man I wanted to ask you.

My youth in first grade get home work everyday. He gets a list of what he has to complete for each day on a weekly basis. Also there is a test every week with a word list, math or spelling. The Kindergardener have his word list and get homework most days as well. The teachers are not that strict on the Kingergardener. Is it the same with your kid?

Now I can't remember getting homework everyday and doing test everyweek. Even some of the teachers complaining that the standards they are now seeing was what was taught in higher grades a few years ago. The kids are doing fine but is it me or you notice the same changes in your system?

Yes she gets a worksheet for each day of the week that she has to complete. It not too difficult for her but you have to keep up with it. I hear that in the charter school down the road it is much more intense.

They are also putting in some strict reading tests, if they can't read a certain passage in a certain amount of time they can't go to First Grade. Some parents panicking about it. Apparently the First Grade teachers say they have been getting illiterates so them trying to change that before they move up.

yeah as you say the homework is not so hard but it is everyday. Yeah the progress or lack of is definately pointed out and they have a regular grading.

My youth in Kindergarden whose teacher taught a the third grade level saying some of the standard they now have in Kindergarden was formerly introduced at the third grade level.
