"Dawg Paw" gets 15 years

Reputed leader of the Dawg Paw gang Christopher Linton has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following his conviction on gun related charges last month before the Gun Court.
One of his cronies, Micah Allen, was also sentenced to 15 years on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and shooting with intent.
Linton was sentenced to a total of 30 years; 15 years for illegal possession and 15 years for shooting with intent.
However, the sentences are to run concurrently so he will serve 15 years.
He was convicted on February 11 on allegations that he and members of his criminal gang fired on a police patrol party along Tavern Drive in St Andrew.
Prosecutors had led evidence that on April 14, 2010 the cops were on patrol when they bumped into Linton and his cronies who were armed with high powered weapons.
The men opened fire, shooting up the police vehicle.
The cops returned fire and Linton and his men made good their escape.
He was captured on January 2011 during a major joint police/military operation in August Town, St Andrew.
He and his gang were linked to a series of murders, shootings and extortion in the Papine/August Town areas.
Linton is still awaiting trial on two other cases of shooting at the police and a triple murder in August Town in which a little boy and his mother were killed.
