        lol ! woiee !

Yuh chat s h i t all day or yuh save it fi di Forum ?

<The reaction of the former prime minister and finance minister was, therefore, not surprising. After all, during the five-year period most affected by his 1980s economic policies, goods production rose to levels not seen since the boom years of the 1960s. Manufacturing output and exports were growing. Some of the biggest names in global manufacturing operated in Jamaica. And a whole new modern garment-manufacturing industry was created, employing nearly 40,000 workers and generating exports exceeding half a billion US dollars annually.

This decision to sideline manufacturing in favour of services seemed completely divorced from rationality, given the relative vibrancy of the manufacturing sector at the time. Jamaica's manufacturers were outperforming CARICOM competitors in regional trade by as much as 40 per cent before Trinidad imposed its trade embargo against them. Manufacturing's contribution to exports and import substitution was significant in bringing our exports to within 40 per cent of imports - a level not seen since then. Today, imports are almost four times the value of our exports.>

Wheh dem ah talk bout now fi di port.. Seaga was ah line up from dem days.. Lee Kuan Yew stylee !

Seaga yappin about a port means nothing...Mout mek fi seh anyting. He had his 9 years and did little about that or building a sustainable productive base. Seaga was Reagan's pet and heavily subsidized his govt... the results were sub par except for the massive debt increase

You clearly don't understand what the 7% JLPNP Crime Syndicate induced haircut means

It means that WHATEVER the official growth number may be...it should be 7 points higher if that JLPNP negative factor wasn't present...

Minus US$60 Billion in GDP later... dawg still ah nyam wwi suppa

          Fiya bun unnu JLPNP tribalists

Tap chat s h i t yute... Seaga had us on a production path and was derailed by yuh people dem Economic Malpractice...

Claude Clarke can admit it.. why can't you.. yuh household tendencies too strong.. Seaga run over yuh big toe..

Stick to yuh Tivaaarli propaganda.. yuh will only get hurt extending into big people matters..

Give dis tuh someone with intelligence to read and then explain to you:

<Jamaica's real economy contracted following this policy shift. Goods and export services, as a share of GDP declined by more than 30 per cent and the economy stagnated, registering average growth of less than one per cent. Taken together, goods and export services share of GDP declined by more than 30 per cent and the economy stagnated.

            Effects of shifted focus

The revelation that Government deliberately removed its focus from the production of goods to services explains the seemingly irrational economic policies that piled pressure on the country's goods producers for more than two decades and decimated the productive sector. It explains interest-rate and exchange-rate policies that senselessly raised the foreign-exchange cost of all local inputs to production without regard to the economy's falling productivity.

The decades-long failure to address the high cost of energy can only be explained by that fateful policy decision. And it certainly explains the hitherto inexplicable sanguineness of our governments and their economic technocrats with the persistent 'bang-belly' economy that emerged in the 1990s: an economy characterised by a distended domestic services sector and a wasted productive sector.>

Now go back to worshiping Chavez.. a mendicancy born of the same PNP Economic Malpractice..

              The higher the monkey climbs...
You are attributing policies that were dictated by the various(Free Trade,IMF etc, decline in export of banana, importing skim milk replace dairy milk etc) agreements and somehow faulting Govt for falling in line.
You are not one for rebellious actions hence your disdain for Michael Manley. You further add insult to injury attributing those capitalistic ventures to those leaders that(Michael self reliance and Chavez demanding fair trade in lieu of free trade) rebelled.
Maybe you are taken cues from the wrong literature, that does not validates you, it discredits you,and reveals you to be ignorant.

Seaga had Jamaica on a path of dependence on massive debt and mendicant handouts from the USA...the PNP completed the hatchet job wid dem fooliniss inna di 1990s...

Here's what the Republican oriented, Seaga-friendly Heritage Foundation had to say in 1986:

Today, Jamaica's great promise remains unfulfilled. To be sure declines in world prices for bauxite and alumina, principal Jamaican commodities, have slowed the government's development programs leading to heavy borrowing abroad and a 3.2 billion foreign debt.

Yet the main cause of today's economic woes is that Seaga's government has failed to create a fertile investment cl-imate for foreign and local businessmen. The sad truth is that state control of Jamaica's economy has actually increased in some sectors since the JLP assumed power.

Jamaica is too important to U.S. and Caribbean regional security to allow its potential to remain. largely untapped Unless.Seaga can revitalize his nation's economy before the island's next elections which could be.called at any time, but must be held by t he end of 1988 former Prime Minister Michael Manley and his socialist People's National Party (PNP) could return to power.

This would be a blow to the validity of the free enterprise concept for the developing world and to U.S. efforts to stem Soviet and Cuban influence in the Caribbean

As Seaga meets with top U.S. officials this week, they must make it clear that continuation of the nearly 1 billion in U.S. aid given to Jamaica since 1980 is contingent upon the rapid structural reforms that will ignite th e power of free market forces for the country's 2.3 million inhabitants.
US$1 Billion in mendicant grants and massive debt accumulation in just 3 years. Those grants alone would be the equivalent of about US$3 Billion in today's money

Money jingling inna people pockets from this "production" LOL

Falling in line ?!! lol !! woiee !

Stap chat nonsense.. they are the Govt.. prudent handling of the Economy is their Job.. Seaga warned them and dem fvck it up ! Dat is the Facts as brilliantly confessed by Claude Clarke one of yuh own..

Dem was suh eagah to get back into power dat dem mek eediat promise and swing the pendulum completely tuh di oddaside of dem socialist experiment and ream di country from a next angle..

Dat is what yuh get when populists are in power and not prudent minds.. like Seaga...

All now unnuh cyaan learn.. and that is why the country if fvcked.. eediat Leaders supported by eediat followers.. dem nevah vote in demself..

It is what it is.. we have been cursed by a generation of rebels without a cause with chips on their shoulders the size of the Grand Canyon.. Jamaica will never elevate based on local forces.. the well has been too poisoned as demonstrated by the PNP success at the polls..

Unless the Logistics Hub comes about.. as a Key Ministah seh him ready fi pack him bags fi Africa because there is no hope after that.. all Haiti will pass us..

The root of this insidious poison can be found in the brainwashing at the Intellectual Ghetto in the late 60's and 70's creating a generation of quixotic 'freedom fighters' galvanized by a naive sociopath of a light skinned complexion ironically whose likeness is ironically preserved on our Thousand Dollar bill..

                        2. Seaga allied with the US destabilized the JA economy in the 1970s...then as Reagan's pet project was heavily subsidized by US mendicant grants and massive debt...ah nuh mi seh suh...Babylon demself seh dat

                        4. At US$5 Billion in mendicant subsidies for only the price of a OAS vote.... Long Live Uncle Hugo!!!
