Policeman held, another on the run following robbery

KINGSTON, Jamaica - A Special Constable and a civilian were arrested during a joint operation carried out by cops from the Westmoreland Police Division and members of the Anti- Corruption Branch Thursday (February 28) after allegations that they were involved in a robbery.
Police reports indicate that a motor vehicle with three men was seen in the Tank Hill area of Negril, Westmoreland early Thursday morning.
It is alleged that the men went to a premises where they held up and robbed persons of an undetermined sum of money at gunpoint. Shots were fired but no one was injured. A 9mm pistol was later found at the scene of the robbery, the police say.
Personnel from the Westmoreland Police who were on patrol duties in the area responded to calls made regarding the robbery and were able to chase and apprehend the Special Constable who is on interdiction, as well as the civilian.
The third man ran from the vehicle and has since managed to elude the police. However, it was later discovered that he is a Police Corporal assigned to the Anti Corruption Branch, Montego Bay, and is currently on vacation leave.
Efforts are being made to locate him.
