It has now emerged that Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate Arthur Williams shot himself in the leg.
It’s reported that early Tuesday morning, Williams was among patrons at a bar in the business district of New Kingston, when an explosion was heard.
It was later discovered that Senator Williams was shot in the leg.
It's understood that the bullet grazed the Senator's leg. Following the incident, he was taken to a Corporate Area medical facility and later released.
Dr. Horace Chang, Chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), also confirmed that the injury was not serious.
“He’s relaxing at home but we cannot make any further comment until we have had a full report from the police. From the reports we are getting it sounds like it was an accident….the police are investigating but apparently there was not a conflict,” Chang said.
