Do they have AR(Accelerated Reader) in your school?

Not really sure you know, so far I haven't heard about her using one but it could be there, she just started the school last August. Will find out and let you know.

my two youth them start doing it. The books are colored based on the level and the students get points when they read. They get stuff like Pizza Party etc and toys if they get a certain amount of points. Parents have to be there to the students take the test as there is not a lot of staff to do this.

It has helped my kids to read as they try to reach the next level and get points. My six and seven year old are competing to read more books. It reminded me of the days when were rushing to read Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books, only that they start from Kindergarden.

Programs like these are needed in Jamaican school. Find out if your school offers it. Our PTA sponsors it.

Thanks, will check it out. My daughter likes to read which is good but what they are giving her to read in school is not very challenging so I am looking at ways to push her.

They say that when students fall behind early in reading it is difficult or them to catch up and it affects all subjects.
