There is no PPP agreement at Sangster. GOJ has zero shareholding in the operating company and zero operational role.

Since the 1980s, some of the PPP projects implemented by the Government of Jamaica (GOJ) include the Jamaica Private Power Co. Ltd’s power plant in Rockfort, St. Andrew; the sale of the GOJ’s 80% interest in the JPSCo. Ltd.; the privatisation of the Sangster International Airport and more recently, the construction of Highway 2000.

The privatisation programme utilises the concept of PPPs as a reform mechanism which will ensure that the Government maintains a strategic interest in assets/entities of national significance while undertaking to improve their management and improve their profit making potential, such as the case for the Sangster International Airport.
