At least one person was shot at a high school in California on Thursday, authorities there say. The shooting occurred at Taft Union High School in Bakersfield, Calif., at approximately 9:00 a.m. local time, a Kern County Sheriff official said.
The sheriff's official said the suspected shooter--a student at the school--was taken into custody. The official said the weapon appeared to be a shotgun.
One victim was airlifted to Kern Medical Center, the official said. It was not immediately clear if that victim is a student at the school. A second person, identified by the official as a teacher at the school, was apparently grazed by the shotgun blast, but denied medical treatment.
