White House weighs broad gun-control agenda in wake of Newtown shootings

The White House is weighing a far broader and more comprehensive approach to curbing the nation’s gun violence than simply reinstating an expired ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition, according to multiple people involved in the administration’s discussions.

A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.

Yuh know bout Swiss gun laws? I hear all men are required to serve in the army, and upon leaving the army they are expected to take their rifles home, and be ready to be called upon in a time of war.

The crazy yute them rely on gun free zones like schools and shopping centres to go for turkey shoots. They can massacre at will because they KNOW there will be no gun opposition. In every case where these psychos were intercepted by concealed carriers, they panicked and needless deaths were averted. In the USA the loudest advocates for gun restrictions are those who have never used a firearm in their lives. There is a lot of chatter about the AR-15, and it often called the Bushmaster which sounds intimidating to some people. This rifle is not even the most powerful semi-automatic available, not even close! I know people who legally own AK-47s & higher caliber rifles that they use in target competitions etc. The question is, do you need an AK? Would you prefer to drive a ford or a ferrari?
