- Undertake statutory responsibilities as stated in the Planning Institute of Jamaica Act (1984).
- Guide research and prepare analyses for policy advice to the Minister responsible for Planning and the Cabinet.
- Guide the formulation of national policies, programmes and plans for development, particularly in the economic, social, cultural and sustainable development arenas.
- Negotiate loans, grants and technical assistance with various local and international development partners on behalf of the Government of Jamaica.
- Provide direction and oversight to the programmes being implemented by the GOJ and the framing of national development policies.
- Ensure that the Institute optimises its efficiencies through inter-divisional collaboration and coordination of internal processes, systems and procedures.
- Foster effective collaboration between the organisation, government ministries/departments/agencies (MDAs), the private sector and NGOs to advance and achieve the mandate of the Institute.
- Represent the organisation at international and national fora as well as on various boards, authorities and committees of both the Government and the Private Sector.
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualifications, ideally a doctorate, in Economics, Development Studies, or equivalent discipline with at least 10 years of executive management experience.
- International exposure and experience working with high level officials would be an asset.

NB: A contract package, within the guidelines of the Government of Jamaica pay scale, will be offered to the successful candidate who will be employed on a contract/gratuity basis
