Don't know exactly how many Repugs they would need because some Dems wont vote for it as well but I doubt the votes are there for that. And first you would have to get the leadership to schedule it for vote, don't know if Bohner willing to do that even now that he has been EMBARASSED.

I think we may go over the cliff, everybody tax raise and then they will vote on a bill to reduce it for most retroactively. That way Repugs can say they voted to lower taxes, not increase them even though the result is the same.

If all the dems in the house should vote on the plan the senate pass, I was hoping to find out how many GOP votes were needed since they control the house to get the 2/3 majority.

You don't need 2/3 to pass legislation, only to override a presidential veto.

You need a simple majority in the House and a filibuster proof 60 votes in senate. A less than filibuster # may work because Senate Repub leaders are worried about political fallout.

Boehner"s speakership may be in jeopardy. Dems may be able to get a few Repubs in house to join them and pass a bill.

Because money is involved, this must originate in the House.

You are correct. My mistake. It only takes 218. At the same time the constitution demands that both houses have to agree on the bill before it can go to the president to be signed.
