    Interesting....thanks!

    George Harrison was a pretty good songwriter himself, underutilized in that role as a Beatle I think. Here comes the Sun is one of my favorite Beatles songs. I am a big fan of Nina Simones version as well. Then there was "My Sweet Lord" among others after he left the Beatles.

      Exile, the problem/danger with composing lists such as these that I occasionally do is the high level of subjectivity. Nevertheless, I do them because it is fun, and also it adds a certain entertainment quality (I hope) to this message board.

      Daryl Hall and John Oates are indeed highly successful American songwriters, but there is no question that the five on my list (well, six, as I had forgotten about the remarkable Ashford and Simpson) have much more hits than Hall and Oates.

      Thanks for reminding me of this talented American team (Hall and Oates) .
